Spring Sports Update: Boys Golf vs. Urban

Boys Varsity GolfBrooks Carman is back on the blog with news of boys varsity golf. His recap covers the team’s final regular match of the season against Urban.

Junior Nathan Wang did all he could to lead the Bay boys varsity golf team with a six-over 42, but ultimately Bay came up six strokes short in a loss to The Urban School Thursday, April 23 at the Presidio Golf Course.

Two 10th-graders, Travis Reid and Eamon Dwyer, also played well in the close loss. Travis shot a 10-over 46, and Eamon’s great short game, specifically his bunker play, helped him shoot a seven-over 43.

The match was the second match in two days for the golf team; the first being a tough loss to a very good Marin Academy team. Junior Stan Roediger played very well in the loss to Marin Academy with a four-over 40 including three birdies, but he unfortunately could not carry his great play into the closer match against Urban.

Even with the good play of Bay’s underclassmen and Nathan’s 42, Bay couldn’t find a way to outplay Urban, whose fine effort topped Bay by six strokes. Boys Varsity Golf

Thursday was the team’s final match of the regular season, and along with that, it was the last regular-season match of 12th-grader Harrison Welsh’s high school career. Harrison was a great performer throughout his time at Bay and his contributions helped to improve the golf program over his time at Bay.
