Active Endeavors: XC’s Coach Bob on NCS Championship

Cross country traveled to Hayward High School for the annual NCS cross country championship. The steady drizzle and muddy course challenged all runners, yet both girls and boys teams demonstrated marked improvement since last year; the girls team finished 12th, and the boys team finished 19th. The highlight unfolded as senior Anna ran the race of her life. By executing her race plan to perfection and conquering the muddy course with confidence, she finished the three miles in 20:27 for 18th place.  Anna qualified for the California state cross country championship and became the first girl and second cross country team member ever to represent The Bay School at this prestigious event.

Anna competed at the state championship at Woodward Park in Fresno on Nov. 24 and ran yet another personal best finishing the 5k (3.1 miles) in 20:24 with a pace of 6:34 per mile. This time earned her 51st place out of 182 girls. See the results for her division here. Congrats, Anna!
