Conversations: Tamara on Learning and Diversity

Bay senior Tamara drew from her personal experience with learning differences to share her take on what it means to “value the richness and difference in diversity.” She related her journey from frustration studying for science tests in middle school, to seeking support from Student Advisors For Education (SAFE), to rediscovering her passion for literature during her junior year. Tamara concluded that she no longer sees her learning differences as a weakness but rather as what led to her newfound confidence, self-advocacy, and perseverance; “In my classes at Bay and my meetings at SAFE, I began to own my learning differences,” she said.
