The artists in Drawing 1a started off the term thinking about composition, balance, rhythm, and movement.
To gain inspiration, we looked at many other artists who are sensitive to line quality, pattern, space, and identity.
These are some drawings created by the artist, Chris Ofili.
Students began with a silhouetted space to tackle using a variety of drawing tools such as charcoal, graphite pencil, and Sharpie.
They had a series of challenges to consider as they worked, and each piece turned out differently.
Embedded in the pieces students had to incorporate 2 drawing materials, 5 different patterns, 3 self-descriptive words (in varying fonts), and the entire space had to be filled.
